Anant Goenka

Anant Goenka is the Executive Director of The Indian Express
Group.
A brand management graduate of the Marshall School of
Business at the University of Southern California, Anant was
awarded a Dean’s scholarship for his Master’s in print journalism
from the Annenberg School forJournalism, USC.
In a news environment flooded by either advocacy or clickbait,
Anant has steered the expansion of the Express’s digital
business in tune with the group’s enduring values of fairness,
accuracyand courage.
These were burnished by his grandfather Ramnath Goenka
when he launched the group 85 years ago and are today the
hallmark of the group’s investigative and explanatory
journalism.
Today, The Indian Express Group is India’s 2nd largest
and amongst the world’s largest digital news media groups
reaching well over 148 million unique users a month, in six
languages across the world. Its investigative journalism, from
Panama Papers to the Videocon-ICICI transactions, from
WhatsApp lynchings across India to empty engineering
colleges has set off policy changes and shaped public
discourse.
Anant’s address at the Gateway of India on the 10th anniversary
of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, his writings on Punjab drugs, the
India-Pakistan border parade and on the future of media in a

Before The Indian Express, Anant worked at Spenta Multimedia
and with Bloomberg's commercial team in UK. He is an aviation
geek, enjoys motorsport, jazz music and, by his own admission,
is a persistentlyterrible drummer— but always to his own beat.

Vivek Merani

Straight out of college, Vivek started his career at Magnon 2 decades ago. The 300+ member Magnon
group today is a part of the Fortune 500, Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC). Of its three agencies Magnon
eg+, Magnon Designory and Magnon Sancus, Vivek leads Magnon eg+ across international markets,
including North America, Europe, Australia and the Middle East, apart from India.
Vivek was named Managing Director of Magnon eg+ in 2014, at the young age of 33. This made him
perhaps the youngest ever MD of a multinational agency in India. He has been profiled as a case study in
the bestseller book ‘30 Something CEO’.

He serves as the Chairman of the Association of Independent Directors of India and as the President of Start-Up India Association. With over 40 years of work experience, he has served in various leadership roles such as Executive Director Pepsico, President and COO at Sun Breweries, Moscow, along with 13 years with Nestle India Limited. He has also served as the Managing Director & CEO at Times Internet Limited, a Times of India Group Internet-Mobile convergence company. At one point in time, I owned a Subway restaurant in Bangalore. Pretty much decided to pursue a career
as a chef. But things did not go as planned.
